Some 1964 newspaper clippings

Its 1964 and someone puts some old papers in a loft. Many years later the papers are discovered when the house is being re-wired by my friend Dilwyn.
I'm amazed at just how often the Beatles are mentioned- just about every paper features them in some way - be it in an advert or some throw away article. Here now is my selection of those old papers...

double click on the pictures to see them full size!

Hmmm. ...are these the waxworks that ended up on the cover of Sgt Pepper? I think they could be....

A selection of badges

David Bailey's Cool poster

A classic Beatle photo fatures on this poster for David Baileys photo exhibition which I went to at the Barbican. David was there and gave a talk and I got an autographed book - but this poster isn't signed.

Stamps

Are these genuine postage stamps? I'm not sure... quite nice design though - featuring photos taken by Robet Freeman.

Beatle City Mug

Beatle City was a Beatle Museum in Liverpool in the 1980s - but think it went bust...

A yellow Submarine Mug

The Yellow Submarine has attracted loads of merchandise. Heres another mug.

More Corgi Toys

Heres the rest of the Corgi Toys I own...

The Beatles Van
The Penny Lane Bus
The Newspaer Taxi...
And the Flatbed lorry

Pete Best

A present from my friend Tony who went to the Beatle Week in Liverpool in 2004 and got this
autographed card from Pete Best and a photo too.

Lennon Lithograph

A limited edition lithograph of John Lennon, signed by Yoko Ono . One of only 200 in this colour.

Silver Poster

Very difficult to photograph - printed on shiny silver paper autographed by Robert Whitaker featuring a photo from the session that produced the Butcher cover.

it was 20 years ago today...

How time flies - a badge celebrating 20 years of the Beatles! i.e. 1982...

CONCERT FOR GEORGE - THE SHOW

following on from the DVD in the previous posts, this inspired me to find the concert programme for the Concert For George.

Heres a detail from the inner....

and heres my ticket - a complimentary one at that!

Ed Sullivan

As the cover says- the four complete Ed Sullivan shows with all the original ads. and other guests left in. This pink cover version is the American NTSC edition - the Uk one came out in a more sedate black cover.

concert for George

This was the tribute concert for George at the Albert Hall. I was lucky enough to get a ticket! What a night - Paul McCartney and Ringo were there, Joe Brown, Eric Clapton, Olivia and Dhani Harrison, Ravi Shankar, Tom Petty, Billy Preston - to name but a few. This DVD features the full concert as was experienced on the night and also the cut-down TV version.

Love Me Do - the Beatles progress

One of the first books published on the Beatles - only just got it so haven't read it yet.

Let It Be Book

When 'Let It Be' was first published it was available as a limited edition box set which consisted of the record and a book of the film. I've just obtained one of the books without the box or record and I'm pleased with it. But having checked on the internet this is possibly a good fake as there were some good bootlegs produced which had a plain black back - and this one does have a plain back back . But it seems to be too good to be a fake. Even so, I still like it, but if anyone is reading this and knows anymore details then please leave a comment.

Kaleidoscope

A fun item I bought at the 'Love' show but you can get it elsewhere. A kaleidoscope featuring the yellow submarine.

Platinum Disc

hopefully this is genuine- presented to Ringo for sales of Anthology - though I doubt Ringo ever laid hands on this. The black surround has peeled off on the left hand side.

SONGS BY GEORGE HARRISON

A limited edition book . Very valuable as its signed by George himself and the artist. An illustrated songbook with a limited edition CD enclosed too for good measure.

LOVE SOUVENIRS

Well I saw the 'Love' Show in Vegas and it lived up and surpassed my expectations.

Heres the brochure and the mug (and yes I did buy the T-shirt too!)

one of the inner pages of the brochure

LOVE CD - double disc version

Here's the double disc version of 'Love' the soundtrack of the Las Vegas stage show. One CD is the normal release, the other the soundtrack in a 5.1 mix - which is great. And all being well, I'm going to Vegas to see the show on September 6th!! Yippee! Expect more memorabilia to be added to this blog after the event!

Beatles videos

A pair of excellent bootleg DVDs - Chronology - featuring a load of Beatle videos in good quality. Its a shame Apple haven't released something like this officially - then we could have 5.1 mixes and re-mastered pictures -as it is these are pretty damn good.

The Anthology complete

The set of DVDs of the Anthology TV series, including extra footage not seen such as when Macca, Ringo and George got back together - a whole DVDs worth.

Another Beatle Mug

Another mug - from the excellent Beatles Story at the Albert Dock, Liverpool.

A Beatle mug!

A Beetle mug! I love this - got this for a Xmas pressy from the wife! There's a VW Beetle on it too.

Corgi Catalogue

The Excellent catalogue produced for the first issue of the Corgi Toys, 1997. Great design! The inners come out to open up into a large spread showing the toys.
